Better Ball Twosome Hidden Partner: For this competition, you play regular golf and hand in your attested score card (switch score cards with someone in your group and have them sign the card). You will be paired up with someone unknown to you (hence the hidden part) and we will calculate the best net hole score among the two of you. You must have a handicap to participate. The pair with the lowest net score wins a prize.
May Layfield Putting Contest: For this competition, you play regular golf but keep track of your putts on all holes. Hand in your attested score card (exchange score cards with someone in your group and have them sign the card. The person with the fewest putts wins a prize.
Riverside Day Ladies Tournament: This is a two-day event that takes place on Tuesday and Thursday of the same week (morning tee times). We encourage everyone with a valid handicap to participate. All players are put in a group (flight) that includes members with similar handicaps so you are really only competing against players of a similar skill level. Each flight will have prizes for low gross and low net scores. There is a small entry fee that goes towards the prizes and you pay your own green fees for both days. You must have a valid handicap and played a minimum of 4 rounds of golf during the current year league play to participate.
Joy McIlveen Low Net Competition: For this competition, you play regular golf and hand in your attested score card (switch score cards with someone in your group and have them sign the card). To be eligible for the prize you must have a valid handicap.
Team Bingo: This is a fun team game. For this game, each foursome will receive a bingo card.
Mark off whenever someone in the foursome completes something on the bingo card. The
team with the most bingos will win a prize.
What’s Your Colour?: This is a fun team game. For this game, each player in the foursome will choose a coloured ribbon prior to teeing off on the first tee. The flagstick on each hole will have a ribbon attached to it. For the team score card, use the score for that hole from the person whose ribbon matches the ribbon on the flagstick. If you are a threesome, for each hole where no one has the correct ribbon colour, rotate using a score from among the players. The team with the lowest score will win a prize.
One Best Ball/One Best Putt: This is a fun team game. For this game, on each hole choose the best score and the lowest number of putts between the players – you cannot use scores from the same player on a hole. Add the scores and record that as the hole score for that hole on the team score card. The team with the lowest score will win a prize.
Solheim Cup: This is fun competition where players are divided into two teams – Team Canada and Team Europe. Each foursome will have two members from Team Canada competing against two members from Team Europe. Points are awarded to a team for winning a hole. The 18 holes are divided into 3 groups of six. Six are played as a scramble, six holes are played as doubles match play, and six holes are played as alternate shot. The points from each foursome are tallied and the team with the overall most points will win the cup. You must sign up to play in this competition, and you must have a valid handicap. The competition is limited to 32 players. Note that you will not be able to enter scores into Golf Canada for this round.
Visiting Days: As a member of the Edmonton Golf Association, the Riverside Day Ladies participate in Visiting Days, where on one day Riverside has an opportunity to visit another club, and on another day, Riverside hosts a different club. Generally visiting days occur on a Tuesday of league play, but not always. Numbers are limited so you must sign up to indicate you would like to participate. If there are more players interested than spots available, a draw will be made. Those players not making the list will have priority the following year.
President’s Fun Day: Different competitions and fun games are featured on the last day of League Play. Each year will be a surprise.
Mystery Fun Game: For those left behind when Riverside visits another club. It’s a mystery though, so you’ll only find out at the course!
